Some noteworthy Social Enterprises in 852: Part 2

Social enterprises are businesses that built with specific social and environmental objectives. aim to bring influence on the community rather than profit for its shareholders. This article is the second part of the 2 part article with another 3 of the 5 HK-based social enterprises. To those looking forward to the relaxation of dining in services with effect from 21st April 2022 i.e. dinners at restaurants and with max of 4 per table, do consider making a difference when you dine out by choosing one of the many social enterprise restaurants in Hong Kong.

1. La Parole

La Parole uses high quality and fresh ingredients to serve its diners with traditional French cuisine in a high class setting. Imagine Swarovski crystal chandeliers, romantic French music and impeccable service while you are savouring those authentic French flavours. And, this is possibly the only fancy dining in Hong Kong at affordable prices.

All income at La Parole, after deducting operating expenses, is channelled to Benji’s Centre, a non-profit organisation that offers speech therapy services to children from low income families. In case you are wondering, la parole means speech in French.

2. Café 8

This cozy café offers a wide range of salads, pastries, sandwiches and pies. Cocktail, wine and beer are served here on top of the usual hot tea and coffee. When the weather is beautiful, enjoy your afternoon tea with scones and cakes surrounded with stunning harbour view at the sensory herb garden just outside the café.


Initiated by The Nesbitt Centre, Café 8 serves as a vocational training programme as well as employment opportunities for English speaking adults with learning disabilities.

3. Dignity Kitchen

Head over to Dignity Kitchen for your Singapore hawker fix. Chicken rice, nasi lemak, Singapore laksa, soft pandan chiffon cake, kaya toast and the list is endless.


Project Kitchen empowers the disabled and disadvantaged through culinary training in Singapore Hawker Cuisine. Trained hawkers are placed in Dignity Kitchen in an environment that restores their dignity. Kitchen equipments and stall management are customised to ensure each individual hawker is able to independently manage their own stall. Do take the opportunity to have a chat with the friendly hawker and be amazed at how they demonstrate their skill while cooking your food.
