Animal cafes: 3 hidden gems in Causeway Bay for pet lovers (who don't have pets)

Hidden in the little streets of Causeway Bay these animal cafes are definitely worth a little detour. When you finally manage to locate them, prepare yourself for some serious cuteness, sweetness and fluffiness 😊

Rabbitland Café

First rabbit cafe in Hong Kong where you can play with bunnies while sipping your coffee. You can caress them, feed them, but hugging is prohibited (in case someone hugs too strongly 😊). The menu is very basic, but there is coffee and tea of course. Entry is 68 HKD per person for one hour of stay and a drink. You can buy the rabbit food as well – it’s 18 HKD per cup. In order to enter, you need to take off your shoes (you need to have socks though) so be prepared to step into some rabbit poos at some point 😉. The place is obviously great to take kids but only older than 4 y.o. are welcome. Overall, a super nice experience, definitely worth a visit.\

Ah Meow Cat Café

This café is located on the 3rd floor of a rather run-down building, but do not be discouraged, this place is loaded with cat’s cuteness, at least those ones that weren’t sleeping at that time. So that’s the thing that cats like to sleep a lot and if you are unlucky, they can be all sleeping hidden in some places at the time of your visit. We were lucky to play and caress few cats. Kids absolutely loved it. Coffee is decent and you can expect some cat paws or cat faces on a foam of your cappuccino (yumm!). If your kids are done playing with cats (or there’s not one in sight), there are plenty of toys in drawers of a one funny looking commode. Also, if you are looking for a gift for a cat lover, there are some cute tea cups and plates for sale.

Mame & Shiba Café

This place is located on the opposite side of the street from Ah Meow Café. And yes, this one is also situated on the 3rd floor of a very run-down building. The place is called café which is actually very misleading because there are no drinks or food available. There are only Shiba dogs, super cute, fluffy, friendly and funny tail-wagging creatures. It is not cheap to have the pleasure to see them, feed them, caress them and play with them. 60 minutes costs 156 HKD per person and 30 minutes - 78 HKD. You need to book in advance and once you booked you can not change the time or date and the space is limited to 10 persons at the same time.

There were 5 dogs during our visit, but it can be more at times. The dogs are super good with kids so there’s absolutely no worry there. If you are sensitive for smells, be prepared, this place smells a bit dogs’ wee wee but you get used to it after some time 😉. To have a nice experience but not to break the bank, we recommend a 30-minute-visit.
